Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev in the first Wimbledon men’s semifinal on Friday, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. It’s the second straight year that Alcaraz has knocked out Medvedev in the semifinals at the All-England Club.
Alcaraz will now attempt to win his second consecutive Wimbledon singles title on Sunday against Novak Djokovic in a rematch of the 2023 Wimbledon final.
Djokovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti in three sets, 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4, in the second semifinal to advance to his 10th Wimbledon final and 37th Grand Slam final. Musetti, a 22-year-old from Italy, played well at times in his first Grand Slam semifinal, but Djokovic prevented Musetti from making any significant progress.
Sunday could be a big day for Spain, as Alcaraz looks to win another major title and the men’s football team faces England in the Euro 2024 final. Djokovic, meanwhile, is moving closer to reaching an all-time record of 25 Grand Slam singles titles.

Musetti was greeted enthusiastically by the crowd as he came out. Despite being his first semi-final, Musetti put in a very good performance; the 22-year-old still has a lot to offer tennis.
Another match point for Djokovic, who has the advantage after forcing another point. He feeds off the crowd and takes his time to serve.

There appears to be a malfunction with the line equipment, with an awkward pause as the crowd, umpire and players wait for Musetti’s challenge to be upheld. The chair umpire is on the phone, but nothing happens, the wait stretching out much longer than they would like.
It looks like Musetti has won the challenge, even though they can’t see it on screen. Djokovic isn’t too happy but at least the game is back on.
Djokovic won the next game, however, putting his lead further out of reach of Musetti.
